Apple's iOS is great but there is always room for improvement. Although you can add images to contacts in your address book, you can't do it with the Messages App. If you do want to though, there is a solution and this comes via the jailbreak tweak SMSContactPhotos. This app has been updated for iOS 7 and has been named SMSContactPhotos7.
This is a very simple tweak that doesn't do that much. In your SMS lists, your contact photo is displayed on the right-hand side of the message, while within a message, it replaces the edit button. The edit button doesn't disappear, so if you want to remove a message within that particular thread, all you have to do is tap the contact image.
If you want to change contact images, all you have to do is open the Contacts app and apply them manually. It is worth pointing out, that if you download BiteSMS beta for iPhone 5s, this feature is included as standard as well as plenty of other exciting and useful quirks. This app has been updated for iOS 7 and the iPhone 5s too. The SMSContactPhotos7 tweak can be downloaded from the BigBoss repo. It is also free of charge too which is great. If you want to see photos beside your SMS messages this is definitely the tweak for you especially if you are looking for something that won't cost you anything.
